The Smoking Ban revised Again

Recently in Indianapolis smoking ban legislation was revised and changed. Smoking ban legislation was revised only because Smoke-Free Indy representatives asked for the city's smoking ban to bars, clubs, and bowling alleys too.

Lauren Koors, who left one bar job for another only because she couldn't support the smoke, said: "I would wake up coughing with my voice gone. I think my job is worth protecting as much as City-County employees who don't have to inhale smoke during their work hours."

Every day employers had to inhale the cigarette smoke like Lauren Koors, only because smoking was prohibited on public places. "Sometimes I feel just bad because I smoke and they say I'm violating on their rights - Well, what about mine?" said a smoker from Indianapolis. Hundreds of letters were sent to Mayor Greg Ballard to his office. The mayor declared that even if the council will not accept the ban, he'll veto it.

Scientists explained: "The mayor has made it very clear that despite the efforts and the passion of the families who are in favor of an expansion of the smoking ban, that the mayor does not support that, but he has given due credit to the people of good faith who are passionate on this issue. We have a current smoking ban. It only supports the market. But it allows choice. I think that's where the mayor is on the issue."

It is a very disappointed problem, because almost all countries banned tobacco smoking not only in parks but also in bars and restaurants, but unfortunately Indianapolis Government said that they are not ready for this yet.

Smoke-Free Indy said that while they’d rather see the council vote on the ban now, they are ready to wait. This proposal is supposed to be sent to a council committee. The ban enlargement would need 15 votes to pass.

Scott Schneider, a City-County Council Republican who has voted against the ban in the past, said that Indianapolis businesses could be similarly harmed. He declared: "This is not good law. It's an affront to freedom."
